Children in the summer
Love to laugh and play,
Making the most
Of each bright summer day,
Enjoying the bliss
Of a warm day in June,
Happily playing
And singing a tune,
Laughing with abandon
In the freedom of July,
With red, rosy cheeks
And a sparkle in the eye,
Whirling and twirling
In a flash of legs and arms,
Singing and dancing,
Displaying all their charms,
Sailing through summer,
Faces happy and bright,
Expressing their enjoyment
With squeals of delight.
Love to laugh and play,
Making the most
Of each bright summer day,
Enjoying the bliss
Of a warm day in June,
Happily playing
And singing a tune,
Laughing with abandon
In the freedom of July,
With red, rosy cheeks
And a sparkle in the eye,
Whirling and twirling
In a flash of legs and arms,
Singing and dancing,
Displaying all their charms,
Sailing through summer,
Faces happy and bright,
Expressing their enjoyment
With squeals of delight.

Thank you Connie for sharing as always your God given talent in words. Blessings to you dear one. Summer....yeah I can live with it. Since I have it most of the year anyway.
Hi Connie .. what a great poem .. and oh boy I bet the kids here are glad they're not on holiday yet - it's raining - simply put! We need it .. but it is summer somewhere!!
That's just wonderful about the future books etc .. gosh what a lot you've got going on - wonderful .. congratulations .. cheers Hilary
Just Be Real (I'm keeping your secret here), thank you so much for your sweet comment! Hope you enjoy your summer, or summer-like time. Blessings to you, my friend!
Hilary, so glad you like my poem. Funny you should mention rain as it is pouring down here again today! Thank you for sharing my joy in the coming publications. I've just heard from a different publisher about another children's book I wrote being ready for an editor. I'm feeling very blessed!
Lovely poem! I liked summer a whole lot more when I was a child and didn't have to work through it. ;D
Kristin, thank you! I know what you mean. Life is a bit different than when we were children, isn't it?
Oh I like this one,it reminds me of my summers when I was a child..I'm looking forward to it and being with my grandchildren also..Beautiful Connie...Susie
Another lovely poem written by you!
Susie, it's nice to have those memories of summer as a child. How wonderful for you to be able to look forward to being with your grandchildren! Glad you enjoyed the poem!
Margo, thanks so much! This is just one of many from A Symphony of Seasons.
What a great poem! It really captures the energy of kids in the summer. Makes me wish for my childhood summer days back. :)
And congrats on all your great news!
Thank you, Janet. Kids have so much energy, and it would be great to recapture that!
I love how you use your talents to bless children. Congratulations on your newest acceptance.
Pamela, children are such special blessings, and I'm thankful to be able to write for and about them. Thank you for your lovely comment!
Connie, I love summer! However, teaching in a year round school, summer has a different connotation from when I went to school and got out the entire summer to spend carefree days at the pool, eating popsicles, riding bikes, endless games of kickball...I love the poem! I'd love to purchase your book of poems..
Even with summer being 120 degrees where I live, it is still my favorite season. Of course I'm inside writing with the A/C on. :)
Tracy, summer is definitely different when we are grown and having to work than when we were kids! I'm so glad you enjoy the poem and will be in touch with you about the book. Thank you!
Wonderful poem! I know my kids and I are looking forward to summer.
Eve, I can't imagine it being 120 degrees! I'm always very thankful for A/C when it gets close to 90, so I know you must make good use of yours. At least in the desert it's a bit more bearable with low humidity if you can stay out of the sun.
Carol, thank you so much! Hope you and your kids have a great summer!
Congratulations, Connie! That's wonderful news about the two new picture books!
I loved the poem. Summer is my favorite season. I love being out in the sunshine. :)
