Do you realize how important it is to provide inspiration and positive messages for children? During their formative young years, they absorb such a vast amount of information. It makes such a difference in the characters they develop, their personalities and self confidence if they receive encouragement and are taught to respect and be kind to others.
"Today is a gift, that's why we call it the present." We each could learn to do a better job of making the most of each day in a positive way, spending time with loved ones and showing our love and appreciation for them in our lives.
Anything we do
Or whatever we may say
May touch others too
And affect them in some way.
When we are feeling sad
And our words are rather cross,
They may make someone mad
And leave them at a loss.
To bring some peace of mind
And show how much you care,
Add a little sunshine
That you each can share.
With a kind and gentle word
And with love and joy to give,
You can help to make this world
A better place in which to live.

Connie, you are so right in saying that children need positive role models. Because if they don't, they will follow the negative ones. Your poem is one that will appeal to both children and adults.
Oh Connie what a lovely poem. It reminds me of something I would have read in Ideals Magazine! I loved that magazine. Your sentiments are correct. Children learn what they live. Thanks for the reminder!
That was lovely, Connie! Thank you so much for sharing it with us. :)
Blessings to you Connie.
Just lovely, Connie. You have such a way with words...
What a beautiful poem, and you are so right about the importance of teaching children kindness and other positive messages. Unfortunately, these days too many parents do not do this.
I love the photo with the kitten and your poem. So true--I think it can help us adults remember this, as well as children. :)
Thanks for all the kind comments all. Let's keep encouraging those children and each other!
Hi Connie .. love this poem - and so appropriate for one old biddy I know up at the Nursing Centre .. who I have lots of laughs with ... Then another who is one very gentle soul, who loves cats ...
Great poem - thank you .. Aesop's words are so true .. cheers Hilary
Connie I am having issues with blogger, but I wanted to come back to give you another hug. Blessings.
Hi Connie, Well said and well put. I believe our mission and purpose is to be positive role models. It matters less what we say, if our actions don't match. When we are kind and caring, children see this, and learn from our example. To do unto others as you would have them do unto you should be our guide.
this poem hits it right on. Love the way you express truths in poems.
Definitely an important message!
I love this poem! The message is so true. I agree with you that we need to teach kids positive messages. I really think you would love the book Wonder by RJ Palacio- the whole book centers around this theme. :)
