Eat Your Veggies

It's a new year, a chance to make changes and do things better! What do you plan to do to make 2011 a great year? I'm thinking about ways for children to learn good health habits and will be sharing some poems about this. I have already shared one, Get Moving, encouraging exercising. You can read it here.

This poem is intended to help encourage proper nutrition. Guardian Angel Publishing, the publisher of my Animal Sound Mix-up, has a section of books on Health & Hygiene that I hope you will check out here.

Eat your carrots, eat your peas,
Eat your veggies, would you please?
Eat your corn and every bean,
Eat until your plate is clean.
Eating Veggies can be fun.
As you eat them, count each one.
See how many you can eat.
You can eat them with some meat.

Eat bananas, eat pineapples,
Eat good fruit, some grapes and apples,
Watermelon, orange, pear,
There's enough for you to share.
Fruits are such a tasty treat,
Some are crunchy, some are sweet.

God made fruits and veggies too.
All of them are good for you!

Connie, your poem is adorable! My new year's resolution should be to eat more veggies, but I mostly like them cooked with butter and salt. That's horrible!

This is the cutest poem. I would have read it to my kiddos when they were little that's for sure. But maybe I would have changed the last line to Eat them, none of them are good for you. I'm just saying.... :)

You are so talented.
