International Children's Book Day

Did you know that April 2 is International Children's Book Day? I just learned that myself. It has been celebrated for over 40 years on the birth date of Hans Christian Andersen to encourage the love of books and reading in children. There are so many wonderful children's books published around the world, and this is a great day to share a variety of books with the children in your life!

My husband, Tom, helped me make a short video of us sharing an excerpt from Animal Sound Mix-up, which we do for readings at preschools, children's museum, for our grandchildren, etc. I posted it on Facebook, and it was much enjoyed. Perhaps you'd like to join in the fun too. It was suggested that Tom might find a job doing his animal sounds. What do you think?

I had no idea that ICBDay was in honor of HC Anderson's birthday.

I loved the video! I laughed out loud every time your husband made the mixed up animal sounds... I still think you guys need some puppets. :-) Great job!!!!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Thanks for the suggestion about the puppets, Sharon. I don't know that Tom would go that far though! I'm sure the kids would love it.

I had no idea it was Children's Book Day and that it was because of Hans Christian Anderson. I'm surprised none of my Facebook friends posted this today.

I had a problem with the video, but I like the picture!

I meant the video wasn't working for me. Probably my connection.

I didn't know that! Cool.
The video didn't work for me either. Too bad!

The video isn't working for me either, it says "Video is not available." But that's so interesting about it being International Children's Book Day, and it being on Hans Christian Anderson's birthay. Wouldn't that be an honor to have a day like that placed on your birthday?
