Run so fast,
have a blast,
skip and jump and play.
Have some fun
in the sun,
get moving every day.
Kick a ball,
big or small,
throw it to a friend.
Move around,
touch the ground,
stretch and twist and bend.
Ride a bike,
take a hike,
jump into a pool.
Swing and slide,
play outside,
exercise is cool!

Summer is nearing an end and schools are starting up again. We still need to encourage children to get exercise, stressing the fun in it while keeping their bodies healthy.
Hope you enjoy this little poem and the photos of my grandsons having fun and getting exercise! If you'd like to read another poem I shared earlier with this same theme, see Get Moving!
What are some of your favorite active children's games?

What a fun poem, and I loved the pictures that went with them. :)
I agree . . . and I could use some of that exercise stuff, too. ;)
Hi Connie .. love the thoughts - we were just always outside .. running or bicycling the exuberance off!
A great walk in the woods preferably or down little lanes .. and riding our bikes - your grandsons have the right idea ...
Thanks - love this .. cheers Hilary
Great post, Connie. When I was a kid we got a lot of exercise running all over the neighborhood while pretending to be various characters and creatures. It's too bad most kids don't have the freedom to do that today.
Way cool, Connie. Great pics to accompany. I think this jivey little poem could have legs---perfect for an exercise campaign in school or just in general.
Very cool poem, Connie. Reminds me of my growing-up days in the country.
Great motivational rhyme for kids. Fun too!!
Thanks mate.

Wonderful post, Connie! I loved it when my daughter acted out songs when she was little. Last year she started learning American Sign Language...She now signs current songs. It is just beautiful to watch.
I love your poem! My kids are usually running for their cross country teams or playing soccer, but they love a good game of Capture the Flag or Flashlight Freeze Tag when they get a group together.
The poem makes me happy. The photos make me say aww.
