“Make a joyful
noise to the Lord, all the earth.”
Listen for the
sounds of worshiping and mirth.
Hear the trilling
songs of birds in the trees,
The music of the
wind, sighing in a breeze.
A joyful noise
could be from the barking of a dog,
A chorus of
cicadas, the croaking of a frog,
The purring of a
cat, content to be alive,
The buzzing of
bees, swarming in their hive.
Each individual
makes their own joyful sound,
The gurgle of a
baby, children laughing all around,
Singing in the shower,
dancing in the rain,
Shouting, running,
clapping, calling Jesus’ name.
Creation contains
a myriad of joyful sounds everywhere
Which may be heard
as music, rejoicing, worship or prayer.
Whatever the sound
might be or however it is perceived,
All joyful noises
made to the Lord are lovingly received.

Absolutely lovely :)
Thank you, Donna!
I'd not thought much about the various joyful noises we might hear in the course of a day. Sometimes I step outside and listen, and hear a gentle breeze, birds, or cows (our property borders a farm). It is a blessing!
I agree, Karen. It is a blessing! I love the sound cows make.
Hi Connie .. yes the sounds of summer and warm days as they filter through the windows and open doors - the noises as we walk ... silence if we're lucky too ... as I was yesterday on the silent coastal cliffs .. the sea was very calm ..
Lovely poem and illustration .. cheers Hilary
Hi Hilary, yes silence and calmness are lovely also. Thank you for your visit and kind comment!
Beautiful, Connie... I love listening to the sounds all around us. We sit outside early in the morning doing our devotions. There aren't many people out yet --so the 'joyful noises' we hear are the birds and other critters.... SO peaceful...
Thanks for sharing.
Hugs,
Betsy
That sounds lovely and very peaceful, Betsy!
That's really sweet Connie! I love the joy and beauty in it.
Thank you, Lisa. I'm glad you enjoyed it!
The picture does match the poem. :)
Always love listening to happy sounds.

You are so good at creating vivid images in your poetry. :)
Love this! So many ways to express joy.
Thank you, Sharon, that's nice of you to say!
Janet, glad you enjoyed it! These are just some of the ways to express joy that involve sounds. I know there are many more ways.
